Do you still have the disk utility open? If so close it and try again. I'll look for another line as an alternative just in case.

Seems it only works on ext2 systems? I wasn't expecting that. Just give me a minute and I'll find something else.
If the live ubuntu is working, I don't know what's wrong with your win7 installation disk.

I haven't found anything particularly useful, but might I suggest burning yourself another DVD with win7, or making a bootable USB for it? If you can run linux live just fine then there should be nothing stopping you from booting through the windows disc unless there's something wrong with the disc. Also the fact that you have 4 tells me you should burn onto a DVD instead of CD anyway
My only other suggestion for the time being is if you have something to connect your laptop HDD (like a sata to USB/eSata connector) then you can run checkdisk using your computer.

hmm maybe you can try to get all your data into a HDD through Ubuntu and then reinstall Windows using your installation disk.

Have you tried to go back into windows since it finished? If you did and it worked then run checkdisk just to make sure. If not then do as I suggested before: burn a win7 installation DVD or USB and boot through that.
Only other good method I have left requires connecting the HDD to your computer, but you probably don't have the cable necessary.

Yeah, unless your laptop is ancient it will connect via Sata. What do you mean about the powersupply cable? In my case I have a miniUSB-sata connector, so it takes the power it needs.

i guess i got no choice but to bring it back to future shop and see if they can reconnect the HDD right now i think it came loose when i brought it to school and was carrying it around >< anyhow i slowly typesetting the stuff i need to be done

Connecting a HDD is extremely easy; take the screws off the back, disconnect the HDD and plug it back in (may need to be unscrewed as well), then put the back on it again. I wouldn't spend money on anything to do with the HDD or RAM.
