run recovery tool and perform a chkdsk maybe thats a bad sector or error on HDD

hmm trying to get into the command prom. for awhile now
what happens is when i run system recovery
the command prom pops up for 1 sec and then disappears and i can't type in the command

how about a recovery CD, change the boot directory in the BIOS

Frozen can't help you in this, because "PC=Eroge" that's his equation

What OS are you on? Boot through the installation disc if you have it, then go to automatically repair. If that doesn't work you can access the CMD through the disk, or on Win7 anyway.

If that doesn't work, or if you don't have the disk, boot through a linux CD/DVD/USB and run diagnostics from there.

You have 2 recovery discs?
Well, either way boot through a live linux iso. If that fails then it's not a problem with your HDD.

you can boot linux using a USB or a DVD only, just like how PS3 runs linux firmware back then

Download ubuntu and burn it to a CD/DVD, or download a tool to make a bootable USB flash drive. Restart your laptop and boot through the disk or USB, then choose to run ubuntu live (as in try the OS, don't install it). From there you will be using it as your OS from on the flash drive instead of your HDD, so if there's a problem with your HDD you will still be able to boot through the USB or disk.
Once in there locate the disk utility and get it to test your HDD with an intensive scan.

Lol yeah, I've got a bunch of linux DVDs just sitting around and iso's on my external HDD in case I want to use them, but if you have a flash drive handy then I'd recommend using that instead. If you want to do that then:

Faster than a CD/DVD, and if you want to check out ubuntu while it's checking your HDD then you won't want to do it with a DVD.

okay so i downloaded, mounted the lastest version went into the
disk utility section
and went to my HDD, do i just check filesystem?

Does it say the HDD supports (or doesn't support) S.M.A.R.T? If it allows, click on the HDD and select to test it. If it says it's fine AFTER the test, then I'm not certain what your problem is.

You should be able to repair from there though... I think. I don't use Linux that often.
