| Well, long story short: I've been having trouble sleeping for a while now, and I'm off schedule. O_o typing this on my phone at 3am...
So, do you guys or gals have any tricks or tips for getting to sleep quickly when you aren't tired?
Also, sleeping pills don't seem to work for me. My doctor prescribed some but all those do is make me feel like I'm floating =_=

| I'm going to have to watch this thread for replies... Just watch videos/read manga/play games on device of your choice in a poorly lit room. Bad for your eyes, they may be bloodshot before you go to sleep, but it's my only method ...and so you see why I will watch this thread with great anticipation. |

| Drink liters of RedBull and get into a manga/game so that you won't be able to stop However, I can easily fall asleep if I listen to music and count the sheep up to a million. |

| I have that problem sometimes as well. For me, reading a super boring book always helps me sleep faster... I usually go for my THICK Calculus book or my text heavy Theology book Also, the effort of lifting up the book for reading also makes your arms tired which also makes you sleepy... i think. lol. |

| 1. get drunk 2. masturbate or have sex 3. after that you'll get sleepy
i just play games or write a poem until i get sleepy.. reading doesn't work for me, reading can keep me awake |

| Well, reading didn't help. 14 volumes of HunterXHunter, 5 volumes of Dragonball, and 2 volumes of Black cat later and I wasn't sleepy at all.
Playing games doesn't help. Angry birds got boring, Professor layton is too hard to do while sleep deprived, and I can't be on the computer past 1am or my parents rage.
Music... I end up analyzing what each instrument does and hum the tune, so yeah....
Heavy books won't work since physical exertion actually wakes me up @_@
Masturbating didn't work last night even after several times. + Can't get drunk, no access to alcohol(underage and not a party-goer).
Well, I got no sleep last night. I drank some tea and ate some eggs so I guess I'll be up all day.
@Linh, my method isn't one I'd recommend to anyone. Fast random and or suicidal thoughts and flashbacks aren't the most pleasant way to stay awake. rofl. |

| I got the same problem as you sadly, i just put a good radio station on (91.3 thezone is good) and put it low volume. But there are days I will find a manga that i want to read as much as a can before my eyes give in hehehe. If you got a iPhone there's a app called sleep cycle that helped me.But the main way to get sleepy is exercise lightly for 10 mins, shower, and then try to sleep before 12, it's a good habit to get into. Also mobile devices are a Terrible distraction so keep them out of your reach when you head to bed.
Hope this helps |

| hmmm my problem isn`t getting to sleep is the lack of sleep >.< i can sleep at 6 am and still wake up at 10 no matter how tired i am then i gotta wake like 4 hours before i can take another 4 hour nap. i can't really help since i'm the type of person who closes my eyes and starts relaxing and falls asleep. unless my bed doesn't feel comfortable that day i can be in bed for quite sometime |

| Everyone here has a sleeping disorder, instead of alchohol or, any other kind.... What the hell is wrong with you guys? Anyway, lol I suggest hot milk, its a natural sedative and make your room 65 degrees, the more cold you are and when you are under your blanket the more easier you can sleep. Scratch that, make that 67, don't get hypothermia. |

| Have a blunt before bed... Best thing after a long day of shit. Or if you don't smoke, listen to music or watch tv. I find consiously trying to fall asleep is the exact opposite of what you should be doing... And if you really need to sleep for like a test or something the next day, work out the night before... Do a lot of reps of body weight excercises and you'll sleep like a baby. |

| In hindsight I do have a method, but it depends on the person. I can't fall into a deep sleep, if anything happens, could be a door opening, I will immediately wake up. When I'm trying to go to sleep I get bored, so instead of playing games I (sometimes) revert back to daydreaming with my eyes closed. Takes your mind off trying to go to sleep and brings you part way there, also skewing the exact transition from one to the other. I don't know if that works for everyone though, since I can't enter a deep sleep and generally remember ALL of my dreams. |
