I contacted Tran Linh the other day about helping out with Higanjima. Since I don't speak anything but English, and don't know how to use photo shop, (Though I am willing to learn) I'm guessing editing or proof reading would be more in my range. This is my first time helping out with the manga translation process so any pointers would be appreciated.

If you head to the Higanjima->Translation area we just finished Vol 5 and the first 22pages of Vol 6 but anything later on if you want to proofread it you can. as well as Quality control of our releases just under the Higanjima tab. Chapter 43 should be up in a couple minutes (its up) and Chapter 44 too I think... (Same)

I was in your shoes when I joined up for the job too bro. No biggy, as soon as you get a hang on the ropes, you'll be fine.

I think I must be missing a step here. I checked the site and didn't see any Higanjima or translation tabs. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be awesome.

Hi there devdog (can I call you that?) , nice to see you !!.
For the time being, as Demonspawn suggested, you can do the Proofreader role (worry not, you will still be credited in the credit page). But I think it would be great if you can help typesetting Higanjima. Would someone show him that? CM, Zetto, Demonspawn? I know typesetting is no fried chicken, but we really need typesetters now with all those cleaned chapters piled up, right?. And devdog, join us discussing (erhem....chatting) in General discussion .

Fonts needed;
Feast of Flesh bb = used for Miyabi's speach, end and opening catches (ex: Chapter 43 asdf, End of Chapter 43)
wild words = regular speach
wild words bold = yelling
deathrattle = screaming

FYI: quick intro to photoshop
photoshop cs3 shortcuts:
"t" = type/text tool
"v" = move tool
"space bar" = allows you to click and move the image
"ctrl + s" = save
"ctrl + shift + s" = save as
"alt + scroll" = zoom in/out (or "ctrl" can't remember lol but I believe it's "alt")
save as a .psd and as a .jpg
the .psd is for making changes if needed
I name like so: Higanjima_Vol_00_Ch_00_000.jpg
Try to make the words as large as possible.
For stuff that goes outside of the bubble add a faint white glow. (WILL ADD SCREENSHOTS OF HOW TO LATER)

Alright so I just downloaded a copy of photo shop 7 if there's a better version let me know and Ill get that one. As far as the fonts go how do I get those?

just a suggestion, say...Devdog, the vol 07 of Higanjima is cleaned. And the first chapter for Vol 7 is already up. All can be found in Higanjima forum. Why don't you try typesetting some pages of it, and if there's a problem, feel free to speak, we are always happy to be be of help!

The latest version of photoshop is CS5, followed by CS4, CS3 (what I'm using), CS2, CS, then photoshop 7.
I use CS3 because that was what I was taught with :/ but CS4 and 5 are both improvements I just haven't downloaded them yet lol
