REMEMBER TO MAKE A NEW TOPIC WHEN APPLYING!!!!
Hmm... after some thinking I decided to split cleaning into two categories and add a cleaning format...
If you are accepted and post up your cleans... PLEASE, IN .psd OR .png (for cleans).PSD preferred
HOWEVER, for testing purposes... just showing or giving us the images is fine (.jpg, .png, .psd)
you can do either one or even both tests... just saying that if you can clean but cant redraw.. then the parts with redrawing we have to give someone else who can redraw...

Table of Contents
I. Download
II. Cleaning Format
A. A Raw Copy
B. Adjustment Layer: Leveling
III. Basic Cleaning
IV. Redraws
A. Not merging layers but can still edit
B. Merging layers

I. Download
Just click link and click ok to download... includes all tests... the simplest step ehhh... Very Happy
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24881983/testingstuff.rar

II. Cleaning Format
A cleaning format should be added to make things a little easier for everyone else and yourself
however, I wont require anyone to do this.... BUT it is recommended

A. A Raw Copy
Pretty simple... all you need to do is when you FIRST open the raw on photoshop...JUST DUPLICATE THE BACKGROUND ON LAYER MENU... and check the eye on the duplicate so it becomes blank (left side of layer)... and DO YOUR WORK ON THE ONE WITH A EYE <--- BE CAREFUL WITH THIS ONE
The reason why this is even necessary is because typesetters do check raws, either for punctuation or character expressions.

B. Adjustment Layer: Leveling
Now for this one... you can do the shortcut CRTL+L or Image->Adjustments->Levels, but if you want to change it, it becomes more difficult as you keep cleaning more. So... the adjustment layer in a tab is better for leveling. Also, if you want to do dust control its better to use the adjustment layer tab for leveling...
Go to the adjustment tab and click on the box appearing like flames with arrows on the bottom or labeled "levels" and level it
Looks like this...
Spoiler:

This would be the result of both the raw copy and leveling layer...
Spoiler:

III. Basic Cleaning
All of these images deals with different situations in cleaning raw manga.
Since this is fairly easy (shouldnt take long... I can do these all of these in a few minutes Neutral )
Also, I explained most of this in my tut... so I wont explain much... But ofc do everything u can to make the scans look cleaner... For this section you do not need to redraw everything but remove the text in the text boxes at least. Lastly Ill give a quick suggestion of the main problem in each image...

testing001: crop, testing002: level, testing003: topaz tools

and ofc u can make these better still with other cleaning techniques

IV. Redraws
This test consists of four different pages... convert them to two merged and cleaned pages (double pages)
For this test, you do not need to worry about precleaning NOR filtering, as these are HQ raws... (well at least take the bubble text out)

This is one set...
Spoiler:
This is the other set...
Spoiler:
and the all in one package... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/24881983/test.zip
OR....
Code:
http://www.mediafire.com/?v4ceasl65v8oynw

(go through all the waiting Razz)

After, open up one of the sets, and create a new document (change new document according to size of the test)
then... copy and paste to make two layers, and create a sufficient amount of space in between the layers...
e.g.
Spoiler:

This part separates into two type of methods for redrawing double pages...
the first one is keeping the layers, while the other merges the layers...

ofc there are pros and cons...
- keeping the layers allow you to move one layer around while keeping the other intact, however, you can ONLY redraw on the top layer (the one at the VERY top of your layer menu)
- merging the layers allow you to freely redraw wherever you want, however, there is only ONE layer, so the part where you create space in between the layers is VERY important

preferably I would use the first method if you have just started cleaning... however, if you have enough experience and do not make much mistakes, you can use the second method...

A. first, you need to edit ONE of your ORIGINAL raws, which means to edit one of the pages of a set...

then... crop an extra portion past the border line (make sure its white since its easier to work with)
e.g.
Spoiler:

use that and the white line will create the space in between the layers, thats what your redrawing on...
e.g.
Spoiler:
THE ONE WITH THE WHITE LINE HAS TO BE THE TOP LAYER, OTHERWISE IT WONT WORK
lol that might be a bit confusing explaining in words, but point being its easier to work with...

B.
merging the layers...
this is VERY simple... just right click on one of the layers in the layer menu... and select "flatten image"
...HOWEVER, like I said, its VERY important that you created the RIGHT amount of space in between the pages
Spoiler:

Thats about it... just show us your results and we will fix any mistakes you made Very Happy

Do this at the end. OR create a duplicate of both pages and merge the DUPLICATE using control + e
