Last year I started writing a fantasy novel. It was a project I started and stopped a few times, is 300 or so pages, and overall I'm confident in it... mostly.
Two problems arise:
1. Chapter 4 needs to be rewritten (obviously that's not what I'm asking for help with)
2. I can't name characters to save my life.

Characters that need renaming are:

1. Male, short blood-red hair, apparently a pacifist but actually quite violent. 22 years old, 6' tall, Caucasian, wields a broadsword, cannot use magic. Often deep in thought, rational, seldom overcome by emotion. Strong, strength outweighs skill, somewhat cunning.

2. Female, long blond hair stopping just short of the small of her back, Caucasian, violent and aggressive, prejudiced against others, outspoken. 23 years old, 5' 11" tall, wields smaller blades (predominantly dual wakazashi), large bust and hips. Easily overcome by emotion and anger, skillful but not particularly strong. Can use magic; below average in destructive magic, excels at healing. Troubled past.
Currently named Eden.

3. Female, long ash/platinum blond hair (shorter and lighter than Eden's, reaches just under halfway down her back), Caucasian, pacifist, predominantly useless, actually extremely strong and talented but has absolutely no will to fight. Physically weak, 16 years old, 5' 8" tall, doesn't use any weapons. Excels in magic; doesn't know how to use healing magic, excessively powerful destructive spells but refuses to use them.
Unsocial but kind, gentle, introverted, naive, slim wait and bust, mentally anguished.

4. Female, short white hair in twintails (or pigtails, however you know them), tomboyish, simple-minded, 5' 6" tall, extremely fit and physically strong, cannot use magic, uses dual daggers.
Not human. Has small, sharp fangs and claws. Can transform into a human, but becomes far weaker physically after doing so.
Quick to accept others, loyal, has no moral objection to killing innocent bystanders.


There are a few other main characters, but I'm fine with leaving their names as they are now. I'm also in the process of editing it yet again; I've gone over the novel many times making corrections/changes, and also taking out most japanese (eg honorifics, some terms).
I've also got to write a prologue, but that can be done later.


Anyway, names guys? I've got a few japanese names in there already, but I'm not after really out-there japanese names or conventional english names. Something uncommon, but not something you'd be surprised to find in an english novel.

I'll just list multiple names that might work for each.

+Did you put Eden under 2. because that's the current name, because you think it's fine, or both?

Rather than Alexander. Just Xander. Someone my brother knows goes by the shortened version. (Not too common over here.)

Yeah might suit 1., I'm looking for a male name but not a tough or overly masculine one. Only thing is when I hear Xander I think of Drawn Together

1. Luther sounds close... I think a name similar to that would be good. Otherwise Marcus seems good to me (I have a character called Markus, but it's in a fic I wrote, not the novel).
Looking at the list I like Leonard/Lennard, but there's already a character by that name.

2. If Eden sounds fine I'll probably end up going with that.

3. Checked the list, Sarah and Alice are possible, still nothing that immediately strikes me.

4. Still nothing. I originally named the character Aisha. I'm fine with Aisha if that sounds okay to you guys, basically I'm looking for something a bit more abnormal for this character (as mentioned, she isn't human).

I won't be online for a bit, but I think I'll continue going over chapter 1 so it's ready to be read after changing the names.

At number 2 Eden seem awfully ironic to me (violent and aggressive, troubled past, easily overcome by emotion and anger...but excels at healing magic might be on the spot though.)

Yeah! Aisha is an Arabian name so alot of muslim girls around here have that name [two of my friend's names is Aisha xD] haha it means alive and well or could just be life. Yeah Sierra is nice! It's one of my favourite names together with Jacqueline xD

If it means alive and well then it's a fitting name; the character is quite active and excitable. I'll have to do some more work on the chapter...

If I post it won't be for proofreading, just reading in general to see if it's good enough, flows well, makes sense, etc. I do plan on submitting it to a publisher at one point, which is why I want it to sound like a fantasy novel.

Alright, new problem. I'm probably 55% through editing the first chapter, and there's something I had forgotten about. Still related to naming...

There is another race that I'm having trouble naming. They are able to use magic, have non-existent physical strength, and used to be able to call forth deities from another dimension after agreeing to allow them to use their bodies as vessels.
They don't come up much at all through the novel, but I'd still like to have a decent name for them.
I had named them Rei ci'en originally, but I don't know if that sounds like crap to others.

Once again, any ideas?
