I saw a topic made by Tran Linh in mangafox's Love so Life forums, im hoping to help out with cleaning after december 14th and will dedicate most of my winter break on this job. I have a lot of experience with photoshop, but mainly with drawing and photo editing. I have no idea how to clean manga, but I have looked up plenty of cleaning tutorials and methods so I think im getting the hang of it.

Here are my two attempts at cleaning. Please feel free to critique and tell me what could be improved.

Basically I leveled, burned, new filled layer (solid white), some slight noise reducing and some inking/cloning. Im mostly worried about leveling too much. I noticed in other Love so Life scanlations, there is no white noise in their black hair at all and im having some trouble with that.

I've also found another good tutorial that I will be testing out later. So far here is what I have

Anyone have some tips on redrawing? Kind of hard to get rid of the blotchy-ness from the circular clone tool. And the top left with the bolded 05 (something in Japanese and a little bug looking thing), I had no idea what was supposed to be there so it would be great if somebody could give me some tips on redrawing things like that. https://2img.net/r/ihimizer/img87/769/a006custom.jpg

No you can download as many files as you want without waiting and you can download more than one at the same time.

It just doesn't like that file :/

Duplicate your layer.
set the duplicate to multiply.
go filter->stylize->diffuse
click the anisotropic mode.
then
go filter->blur->surface blur
5pixels
25 threshold

Now hit alt+f9
create a new folder if you don't have one
click the new layer in the folder.
Name it diffuse setup
and
redo the filer->stylize->difuse
filter->blur->surface blur
shown above. now click the stop button in the actions window.
set the thing to ctrl+f2
now everytime you hit ctrl+f2 it will do all the steps with those settings

^ holy cow that seems like it will save me a million years, I'll be sure to try it out after I finish my hw (which I have been neglecting the whole day). I tend to screw up a lot when trying to follow tutorials, hopefully this will turn out right on the first few tries.

ooh awesome! A partner in crime (if i pass my test, that is) haha I clone like a snail, luckily demonspawn gave me that tutorial or it might take me forever to clean a chapter. I didn't know I had to test so early, I was like crap im so noob at this LOL ...and I thought everyone would be given the same test guess im lucky =P

I work really fast because of an advantage (On finally page 15 on LOVE SO LIFE, my strategy is contrast brightness first and edit it later...) XD and having a tablet but BISCUIT, YOU ARE NOT A NOOB YOUR GOOD AT THIS.

I also have a tablet, but I suck at it. Im more of a pen tool person. I can only use the tablet for non-straight and clean lines XD. I think I saw you in the typesetter forums too. Are you doing both?? :O at first I was thinking it wouldn't be hard to type set and clean at the same time, but reading through the forums completely changed my mind. I think i'll just stick with cleaning for now HAHA
