Hi! I'm interested in becoming a typsetter for xscansx! I would really like to be typesetting Love So Life if I pass the test or something... ^^ I have photoshop and I can contribute a few hours a day to typeset (since i still have work and stuff ><)

I don't know if this is ok but I used *somewhat* a variety of fonts... >< I love fonts so... yeah ^^; I know we're supposed to try to stick to a small amount but since this is a test I kind of wanted to try it out... If that's not ok, I can redo the pages! no harm done ^^

**I also kind *sort of* proofreaded/reworded the translations since it was a bit awkward at times... I'm not sure if that was part of the test...? But English's my second language so sorry if it still doesn't make sense ^^

This is an example of an "Un-proofread" script.
In the future, you'll be working with scripts that have barely any mistakes. If you see any, point them out, don't change them. Just in case they're there for a reason, or if the proof reader missed it.
When working on Love So Life, there's a set font list you'll be working with, just a heads up.

Anyway, if you'd like to do ore no imouto(or now, ore no kouhai), that's great. I'm kind of retiring, so there's barely anyone left to do it (Milkmandan is always busy, and synn is busy too).

If you'd like to practice typesetting the series, that would be great.
Let me know if you want to try it out.

And -- do you guys have a certain time limit for a chapter to be finish typesetting??

lol, I've been at this for almost half a year now o-o;;
I've completed over 125 releases worth of jobs. It's not really "so soon"

And for ore no kouhai, we actually do have a time line for it. Once it comes out, we rush to get the chapter done within 1-2 days.

Last time, we rushed it. I typeset/proof read the chapter within 1.5 hours of Tran translating it o-o (I cleaned it faster than he translated )

You can take a look at any of our other projects, and ask to see what's up for grabs. (You probably won't want to work on the mature things, like Nozoki Ana or Sun-ken Rock)

Well, talk with some of the other staff, and I'll have Tran make you a staff member.

How many pages does Ore no Kouhai tend to have per chapter? (just an estimate? since only 1 chapter's out right now, I think... ? will the next chapter have the same amount of pages? )

around 20 per chapter. 30 at the most.
For ore no kouhai it has a deadline mainly because it's a "popular" series. We have other scanlators breathing down our necks, if we take too long someone is bound to steal it.

As for me retiring, it's mostly my parents who don't want me doing it. I'm still sticking around to play administrator and stuff, sneak in a few cleans here and there, play with the new site, etc.

Well... I guess it's good that you'll still be able to stick around here ^^ But it sucks not being able to do what you want =(

I think I'll pass on Ore no Kouhai... I still want to do Love So Life though so if there's any chance that more trans/cleaned scans are ready for typesetting, I don't mind helping out

i see what you are doing with the fonts, each character has it's own font
but that will indeed kill you =p
you should keep it a bit more simple
like
all speech = 1 font
yelling bubbles= 1 font
sfx = 1font

you don't need to have like so much fonts
reasons are... if you are busy some1 new can easily pick it up for you, if you have too many fonts = GG lol

but yeah thats all i want to say
